Friday 30th May 2025 was a wedding to remember – the day Jackie Ronfell and Karl Newberry tied the knot, surrounded by friends, family, and one very special guest of honour… their dog, Harry, who walked down the aisle as the ring bearer and instantly melted hearts.

Karl started his morning at the cottage, calm and collected, while Jackie was at home getting ready with her bridesmaids and maid of honour. The ceremony room looked magical with navy sashes, glowing lanterns, and floral stands marking the aisle. Guests were welcomed with tissues for “happy tears,” and it wasn’t long before everyone was in place, ready for Jackie’s entrance with her dad.

The vows were heartfelt, the atmosphere full of love, and then – cue applause – Harry arrived with the rings! After sealing it with a kiss, Jackie and Karl stepped outside to be showered in dried flower confetti, with prosecco, beer, and orange juice waiting to toast the new Mr. and Mrs.

Canapés went down a treat (the sticky honey sausages were a clear favourite!), and before long, everyone sat down for the wedding breakfast. Jackie and Karl chose a sweetheart top table, keeping things intimate, while their guests tucked into lamb with mint gravy, dauphinoise potatoes, and Yorkshire puddings – followed by giant sharing pavlovas that had everyone laughing and swapping spoons. Speeches from Karl and Jackie’s children rounded it all off with smiles and a few teary eyes.

As the evening guests arrived, the atmosphere kicked up a gear. Jackie and Karl cut both a cake and a pork pie cake (yes, you read that right – very on-brand for this pair!), before sharing their first dance to cheers from their guests. DJ Neil Bullen had the dance floor full in no time, and later a late-night breakfast buffet kept everyone dancing well past midnight. A sparkler send-off outside added a pinch of magic before the night wound down.

Jackie and Karl had also booked out all 14 rooms, meaning the celebrations spilled into the next morning with a relaxed breakfast together. Plus, during the day, they took some time out with photographer Gavin Howarth for a romantic photo shoot at Gawthorpe Hall – the historic backdrop perfectly complementing their love story.

In Their Own Words written by themselves a beautiful Poem by Jackie and Karl:

At The Lawrence in Padiham, our hearts were set,

A day of love we’ll never forget.

Michael, you knew, with your gentle insist,

That this was the place where our day would exist.

Olivia, our host with the warmest of ways,

You gave us perfection throughout our day

Its those little things that matter

We will cherish forever

The lawrence you have given us a memory we hold together

Josh, your creations—both daytime, night too,

Each plate was a masterpiece, crafted by you.

Our guests still recall every flavour, each bite,

Topped off with sausage and bacon buttys for our wedding night

Jen, with her homemade lemon curd played her part

Your pavlova sharer touched every heart.

A curd made with love, and sweetness to show,

It laced our dessert with a radiant glow.

To Vikki who spoke with a voice full of grace,

You guided our vows in that sacred space.

A celebrant’s craft, tender and true,

Our promises sealed because of you.

Neil, your rhythms kept spirits alive,

We danced through the night, we thrived and we thrived.

Luke with his sax, each note smooth and bright,

Together you gave us a soundtrack of night.

Kyle, with that grin and a “can-do” heart,

You lifted the room, played a true friend’s part.

No task too much, no request denied,

With charm and with cheer, you stood by our side.

Libby, behind the bar’s gleaming glow,

Your service was flawless, your spirits did flow.

And when shots were needed to spark up the cheer,

You lined up our glasses, and filled them with beer ...

So this is our thanks, from beginning to end,

To each of you—host, chef, owner, and kyle our friend.

Our wedding was magic, our memories gold,

At The Lawrence in Padiham, our story was told.
